Coore and Crenshaw associates

Would like to introduce everyone to the people responsible for the work being done here at Old Town.

Dave Axland

A Kansas native, Dave Axland moved to Corpus Christi, TX shortly after receiving a degree in Turf Mgmt. from Kansas State University in 1983. It was there that he met Bill Coore and joined the crew for the construction of Bill’s project, Kings Crossing C.C. Soon after, Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw partnered to form Coore and Crenshaw Inc. and since that time, Dave has worked on many of their projects. Although he still participates in developing golf course features, he spends most of his time on project setup and construction management.
In addition to representing C&C as one of their design associates, Dave partnered with Dan Proctor in 1989 to start a golf course design firm named Bunker Hill. They have done several projects, most notably, Wild Horse G.C. in Gothenburg, Nebraska. Presently, Dave is onsite in Tasmania working on Lost Farm, the second course at Barnbougle. When not on the road, Dave lives in his hometown of Kansas City.

Keith Rhebb
Keith began his career in 2002 when he went to work for a golf course construction company based in his home town of Lincoln, Nebraska. He gained experience in all aspects of golf course construction work including drainage, shaping, and finish work. When the company secured the contract to build the Colorado Golf Club, Keith was able to work alongside the Coore & Crenshaw team.
Coore & Crenshaw were impressed to the point that Keith was put in charge of the Par 3 course. In 2006, Keith was officially added to the list of C&C associates when he joined the team of men assigned to the Sugarloaf Mountain project. He has represented C&C on various projects since that time. Currently, Keith is living in Tasmania with his wife, Kristi, and serves as one of two associates from C&C for the construction of Lost Farm, the second course at Barnbougle.

Quinn Thompson
Quinn Thompson has been working with the Coore and Crenshaw team for the last 5 years. Coming from Chicago's south side; Quinn met Mr. Jeff Bradley, the Coore and Crenshaw " bunker guru", while working maintenance at a grow in job out east, in Rhode Island.
From there, Quinn kept in touch with Jeff, which led to work at The Colorado Golf Club; where Quinn was introduced to the likes of the Coore and Crenshaw outfit; Jimbo Wright, Toby Cobb, Dave Axland and Jim Craig; as well as the nervous first handshake he gave Bill and Ben. Quinn later went down to Florida, to Sugarloaf Mountain, where he assisted in everything that is the broad landscape of a golf course; from "sprigging" greens to trimming trees. After the work in Florida, Quinn located to France, to Bill Coore's Golf du Medoc course, where he started a bunker and tee renovation with Dave Zinkand.
Upon returning to the states, Quinn worked on the recently completed Clear Creek course near Lake Tahoe, with James Duncan; where he worked primarilly on bunkers. Quinn is currently back at Golf du Medoc, trying to finish up the remaining bunker work by spring of 2009.
Quinn still reside on Chicago's south side, where he hopes to oneday work his way into ownership of the fabled Evergreen Golf Course (designed by the Welshman Robert Jones, he thinks, and bordering the respected Beverly C.C.); and give it's neighbors a place to find peace on a Sunday morning before the Bears kickoff.
Quote:
"So if you visit Chicago, enjoy the many great courses, the Midwestern friendliness, and the cities other amenities. But if a stranger with a goofy swing wants to play for more than loose change, take a pass. It's a long walk back to your hotel in bare feet."
